RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Nathan on 08-29-2006 at 03:15 PM

Link :P,
If you mean beta 2 public thn yes and it works except for msn (for me)

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Knucks on 08-29-2006 at 03:40 PM

I have Windows Vista Pre-RC1 (Build 5536) installed and find it much better and much faster than the Vista beta 2 by far. It is actually starting to feel like an actual OS if I do say so myself. Still, major improvements have to be done, but heh, it's still only beta. :P

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Nathan on 08-29-2006 at 03:59 PM

Anyway I can get hold of this beta :P

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by YourNeibour on 08-29-2006 at 07:11 PM

The only thing I am curious about is if this thing will install or not.  I had massive issues couldn't install it.  And interestingly enough that this build is 2.6 gigs where all the other ones were 3.4 gigs? hmmm

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by cloudhunter on 08-29-2006 at 08:23 PM

* cloudhunter downloads.

Is it quicker than beta 2?

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Kenji on 08-29-2006 at 08:28 PM

* Kenji would download but he has gone over his cap

* Kenji will download on thursday (6)

The 64-bit versions are.

To be more specific:
vista_5472.5.060713-1900_winmain_idx01_x86fre_client-LB2CFRE_EN_DVD.iso
2,628.95 MB

vista_5472.5.060713-1900_winmain_idx01_x64fre_client-LB2CxFRE_EN_DVD.iso
3,545.53 MB

There is no 64-bit version for 5536 (pRC1) though.

There may be new server bits with RC1, but it's on a separate release schedule so who knows.
RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Max on 08-29-2006 at 10:03 PM

Downloaded.

Waiting to have my external DVD burner returned so I can go and install it on another computer.

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Nathan on 08-29-2006 at 10:03 PM

Meh,
It wont be up for long btw, cos it has a cap of 100,000 downloads :<

Same. And yes, this build is lightening fast compared to Beta 2 :P. Of course, theres been many GUI changes and other things since Beta 2 as well (driver support etc.)

Good chance :P, one of the programs that still crashes sometimes is WLM though. Probably more WLM's fault then Vista ;)
RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by YourNeibour on 08-30-2006 at 01:33 PM

Is this build a ok to use as a main OS?

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by lordy on 08-30-2006 at 10:39 PM

I use Beta 2 as my main OS and, while it's rather slow and buggy it hasn't actually crashed on me yet. I've been told that Pre-RC1 is far quicker and more stable so I would assuing it would be alright to use as your main OS, probably not recommended though

i'd wait for atleast the non pre rc version, or better yet until vista is out completely. But it wud be better if u had a dualboot of xp and vista.

No,
it asks you for your key and you just click no and then itll carry on. So you dont need a key yet ;)

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by YourNeibour on 09-05-2006 at 07:42 PM

When Installing this Vista version should I do it thru XP or try doing it booting it from the DVD because thru the DVD it freezes on the first screen where it sais what language I want.

If one way doesn't work, try the other. :P
Oh and if that doesn't work, you're borked. :P

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by Nathan on 09-05-2006 at 09:04 PM

RE: Microsoft Windows Vista RC1-Pre by YourNeibour on 09-06-2006 at 01:12 AM
