Have you tried re-installing the drivers for your wireless router on Windows XP?

RE: Wireless not working on XP by Kenji on 09-04-2006 at 09:51 PM

Tried that, still get the same errors :undecided:

Sounds to me like you're having problem with your proxy settings, amazingly they can mess a hell of a lot up.

What is the brand and model of your router?

The router is a Belkin #f5d7633-4

and the wireless card is a Belkin #f5d7001

Have you tried re-setting up your router for windows xp?

Okay, go to Internet Explorer or Firefox and type in the address bar: 192.168.2.1. Leave the password box empty and press okay. Choose PPPoA (Routing mode, for multiple pcs) as your connection type. Next put in all of the personal info that's required. Press "automatic by isp" for the dns settings.

Now press "Home" on the webpage, not on Internet Explorer/Mozilla Firefox. Press "connect to internet" and it should work.

(info from belkin.com)

isnt it 192.168.0.1? or is it different for every router?

RE: Wireless not working on XP by Voldemort on 09-04-2006 at 10:28 PM

its different for each brand... my belkin has the same ip as the one trax wrote...

RE: Wireless not working on XP by NiteMare on 09-04-2006 at 10:59 PM

the problem is with your wireless card, your pulling a 169.x.x.x ip addres, thats the same as using 0.0.0.0
try reseting TCP/IP and your winsock, restart your computer,
if that fails go to device manager and check for errors on you wireless card
should that fail, contact your wireless card's OEM
