Orange Blinky Indicator Thingy by Halford on 09-15-2006 at 10:09 PM

So I went back in the posts about 2 days and saw nothing regarding this so if its already been posted before please be kind. I looked and didnt see anything about it already :)

I am using Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus 4.01 (the last release)
Something I have noticed since using the new Live Messenger Plus is that my orange message indicator in the task bar doesnt work. I should also add that I use the tabbed messaging feature.

Its rather annoying especially if I am busy at the PC with other things beside chatting. A person will respond too me and ill open the window to find they have been yelling 'WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GO" for 10 mins because I forgot I was talking to them.

I have removed the tabbed chat feature and it will work but in tabbed mode I get no orange indicators whatsoever so its obviously a Mess Plus issue.

Does anyone know of a fix or a cause for this. Tabbed chat is the only reason I use Mess Plus and if its an unknown issue or there is no end in site ill simply turf Mess Plus altogether

I can't see it being a Messenger Plus! Live issue, as this was fixed versions ago! Are you sure you have all of the updated versions of both Messenger Plus! Live and Windows Live Messenger? If not, you should really update them.

Certainly Carltos. Ill post them in my next message

Mess Plus: 4.01.0.240 (release date was 7/16/06

WLM: Build 8.0.0812.00

Someone asked about patches installed. Umm...I dont think I do have any patches installed. If it was a manual download then no I dont :)

i know theres things like stuffplus, messpatch apatch etc that have options to disable the orange glowing on new messages but that would stop it all together not just for tabbed chats only. so im confused on this too.

I just wanted to say I'm having the same problem.

Here are my versions:
Messenger Plus! Live 4.01.240
Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812
Windows Vista Build 5600 (RC1)

I really want to have the tabbed messenger windows.  8-|

Thanks

Oh, I don't have any other addons installed.

Ok, so I just played with it some more, and now it isn't working, even though I have tabs turned off!  :@

The case you are describing does make it seem like a Plus! bug. However, I would like to point out that there is a WLM bug in which the windows don't flash or make sounds sometimes.

I am also using Vista. I turned the tabs off and it was working but its glitchy. I should point out though that this was an issue before I went to Vista

um so this could just be a vista compatability issue. personally i had no issues with tabbed browsing on windows xp pro with sp2.

Its possible but like I mentioned in my last post this issue was also happening before I started beta testing Vista :)

what system was you using prior to vista?

I was not having this problem in XP SP2.  It is blinking again for me with the tabs turned off, I rebooted and all is well now.  But I still really want the tabs back.  :)

I was having that problem on XP SP2 but now on Vista it seems like it's fixed.
