Webcam errors... by Steven on 09-23-2006 at 11:19 AM

Hi, im having a problem with my webcam and my other laptop. If im talking to a contact on wlm,(or msn as well) and they send me a invitation to view their webcam, or vise versa, as soon as I press accept, my screen goes really dark dark black, and if you turn the laptop you can slightly make out what your moniter is displaying, so it took me 10 minutes to fine the application msnmsg.exe (i think it was that) and to end it. After i do that the screen goes back to normal. I will tell you what webcam it is, and any more info you wish, as soon as my sister wakes up and I can get into her room. :P

Have you tried your webcam on a different program such as Yahoo Mess or Skype to see if it is MSN or just the webcam...

I know but you should try it on another program to see if it does the same thing.

Well my sister would kill me if i downloaded programs again on her computer. So i tried the webcam on this laptop, and it works fine.

Dont forget its also when i try to view the other contacts webcam.

EDIT::: im on it right now, i just tried sending my webcam, even with no webcam plugged in and the same thing occured.. :S

I had this kind of problem once, not sure it was related to MSN/WLM though.

I contacted Compaq and apparently all that was needed was to flash the bios, (which did work btw.)

I think that the dark screen could be your screen backlight turning off. Might be because of a BIOS flaw like alby said.
