Install messenger plus! 3 problem by MrSwiskey on 10-07-2006 at 01:21 PM

Hi guys, at weekends i have to go to my dads house and his computer sucks. He has MSN messenger 7.5 with no plus. I have tried to install plus onto the computer but everytime i turn off the computer, it will dissapear. :dodgy:
I think it may be something to do with the fact im not an administrator on here, but i want help.
Is there any way to install Plus! 3 without it dissapearing?

It's best to install on an Adminstrators account.
Could you make yourself an admin? Or install it from your dads account?

Try changing the hooking method to Alternate mode:

You can try Alternate mode:

- Plus > preferences > miscellaneous..under Messenger Plus! Automatic Recovery Options, set it to "Alternate".
- Reboot
- Start MSNM and check if it's still in alternate mode
- Ctrl alt del to go to taskmanager and in processeslist end msgplus.exe
- Now restart MSNM and see if Plus! appears in the menu, if so "alternate mode" is working fine.
- After checking you can remove Plus! from startuplist by going to: start > run ..type: msconfig <enter>, go to startuplist and uncheck MsgPlus (this step isn't really needed, if need be Plus! will switch to "Allternate" by itself, just check if it's still set to "Alternate" every now and then).

Alternate mode is new and only available in Windows 2000/XP. Make sure you got no programs running preventing writing in the registry whilst setting it to "alternate mode".

If you use another OS, try "default mode - forced".

Will that work if i leave the computer on till im done and turn it off and then next time i turn on it will be there?

MrSwiskey, what you could do is place the Messenger Plus! shortcut into your startup folder in the start menu and that should start Messenger Plus! for you when you login.
