Check your Location settings in the system... is it set to UK?

To check them go to Control Panel > Language and Regional Settings.

I've got the same problem, I'm in the UK and my settings are set as such. I'm missing out on free stuff because of technical issues, darn it!

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Specs:

XP Pro SP1 (SP2 messes up my machine)
WLM 8.0.0812
MSG Plus Live installed (maybe that's got something to do with it)
Comodo Firewall installed (but MSN allowed FULL access).

Works for me and i'm not even in the UK! The UK restriction bit is for the promotion only (the gifts):

quote:
Promotion Guidelines
Offer good only to Windows Live Messenger v8 users who are UK residents.    Limit one gift per person.
I think you might want to check out your IE Security settings:
open Internet Explorer
click the Tools menu > Internet Options >
Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL 3.0' is checked, then click OK.

Also note that bots might not always work..i got a few and one day they work and the other they don't....

Edit: No need to alter anything in your passport setting or system settings at all! It's just another contact addy. You get to accept an invitation to start the activity after you said hello to the bot.

Win XP Pro SP2
WLM 8.1 (yea official tester)
Plus!Live beta (official here too)
IE 6

I've checked that, it's like you said and still not working. I'm sure it's something on my PC as it's old and slow but still, I can't see why it should affect WLM.

Thanks for trying though Sunshine and others, any more ideas I'd love to hear them!
