i sent my uncle a message whilst he was offline, now when he signs in he gets the message.... each and every time...
is there anything i can do to 'fix it'
why is it doing this?

Server Errors/Problems most probably. You can't do anything about it other than excepting it to be fixed soon. Even i've experienced this many time in the past 2 days.

Although, M73A (and anyone else with problems with Messenger), you can report it as a bug to the Messenger team. The more people do this, the sooner it will get fixed (probably

Get him to reply to the offline message (in the same window where it comes up) WHILST!!!! you are online.

The same is happening with contact requests (when people add you).
