Seconds in timestamp in messages of conversation windows? by gorro on 11-12-2006 at 10:56 PM

How to get seconds in the timestamp near the nicknames in every message in the conversation window? By default only H and m are displayed...

That is a Windows Live Messenger feature, not a Messenger Plus! Live feature. Try suggesting it to Microsoft.

Is it possible for WLM to display seconds in the timestamp?
WLM uses your default windows time settings (as does plus without the registry setting). This can be set in Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > click Customize next to language selection and go to the Time tab.
This is correct, but Windows Live Messenger will ignore the seconds in the format (just as your system clock does).

There is no way other than patching Windows Live Messenger to let it show up the seconds too.

How would you patch Live Messenger to do this then?

With a patch program :D

....

seriously though, I dunno what to patch, but it is obviously its routine which gets the timevalue. You wont find this in the resuorces either, you'll need to patch the actual code (eg: like the polygamy patches and all)...

(PS: related: if you tamper with the resources which makes up the "says" line, you'll notice that they use %1 (which is the users name) and also %3 which is this timevalue.... Now if you add %2, you'll notice that that is the datevalue)

Hopefully TB will consider adding this to a future StuffPlug version. I reckon the seconds are very handy.
