I have recently stumbled over a sound problem, I tried playing some videos over my shared network, there is a picture but no sound, then i tried previewing the episode of prison break but there is no sound

Have you checked to see if its on mute or not?

Prehaps compatibilitility (or whatever :P) problems.. What media player are you using? and what format is the media file?

Also, is the sound working on other applications such as Messenger or a game? It might be you've ruined the sound card/speakers..

Well, the formats are AVI and MPEG, someplay with sound, some dont, but the majority dont play sound :(
Ive tried windows media player, realplayer, DivX player, quicktime player and im installing nero 6 to try nero showtime :P

EDIT: yes the sound is working for music, sound effects and some videos :P

i think i have figured out the problem, i might need a audio decoder :S (whatever they are) if someone would be greatful to help me, but atm im searching on google for one, compatable with DIVX player
