What Music Player Do You Use? by zach on 12-02-2006 at 04:56 AM

Today I tried out MusikCube after I saw it on digg: '30 Essential Open Source Software Packages'.

I've tried WMP9/10/11, Winamp and iTunes but I really only want to play music with a low memory footprint and fast navigation.

Which player do you use?

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by WDZ on 12-02-2006 at 05:38 AM

I use WMP 10, but I don't listen to a lot of music on my PC... :p

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by prashker on 12-02-2006 at 05:38 AM

I used to use WMP11....but now Winamp :cheesy:

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Felu on 12-02-2006 at 06:16 AM

WMP 11 and iTunes [Image: xso_cheesy.gif].

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by John Anderton on 12-02-2006 at 06:17 AM

Winamp wins, now and forever

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by markee on 12-02-2006 at 06:27 AM

I use iTunes for listening to what I have but I use WMP 11 for deciding if I want to add it to my music library or not (only if it is something I'm uncertain of) because it is a lot easier to get rid of it out of WMP than iTunes IMO.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by linx05 on 12-02-2006 at 06:58 AM

MusikCube rocks. But I stopped using it because of slow updates I think. Or something else, I can't remember. But I've been keeping my eye on it.

I use Foobar and Evil Player. Simply because they use little resources and do what I want.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Lilium on 12-02-2006 at 07:09 AM

iTunes and Winamp are the only ones for me. They each have features about them that keep them tied as the best music players around, in my opinion! What I love about Winamp is the whole skin deal... It's so much fun to play with skins and get some that match whatever my current wallpaper may be. :]

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by -dt- on 12-02-2006 at 07:29 AM

i use winamp :)

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Funness on 12-02-2006 at 07:56 AM

Winamp for music, MPC for videos. Never liked iTunes.. only use it when I want to add/remove music from my iPod.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by xJ + on 12-02-2006 at 08:12 AM

I use...
iTunes
online radio
MP3 converter
Podcasts
uploading/removing songs and/or pictures from my iPod.
Windows Media Player 11
videos
ripping/searching/sync music
Winamp
music

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by andrewdodd13 on 12-02-2006 at 09:15 AM

I use Winamp, but WMP11 for ripping. I used to use WMP10,  but when I upgraded to 11 to try it out, the sound does this nasty volume-normalization all on its own, which is really annoying. According to the settings all that is turned off.

Anyway, I'd discovered Winamp before WMP11, so it doesn't really matter.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by hexel on 12-02-2006 at 02:20 PM

I've used Winamp, but for some reason I now prefer Quintessential Media Player. I also use BSPlayer when I need to watch something with subtitles (rarely happens nowadays).

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by lizard.boy on 12-02-2006 at 03:22 PM

iTunes 6 as a library manager, but its set up to play through the foobar engine.

So iTunes for the library + Foobar for the awesome quality = Good music experience :P

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by ins4ne on 12-02-2006 at 06:32 PM

WinAmp for music and WMP10 (will download 11 now) for videos. When they need a special codec then i use VLC Player :).

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by dotNorma on 12-02-2006 at 07:20 PM

Winamp (Lite Install) with classic skin and VLC.

Teh pwn.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by haydos on 12-02-2006 at 07:23 PM

Winamp 5.112 (I've never had the need to update, I have a hot skin and that's all I want from it) and I will use iTunes if I am playing music while my iPod is plugged in.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Vazza on 12-02-2006 at 09:47 PM

Winamp (just because I can skin it to my hearts content plus WMP 10 tends to be a b****** with plugins) and some iTunes for listening to the music I've purchased on it before copying it to disc.....(a)

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by SonicTy on 12-02-2006 at 09:49 PM

I use winamp , itunes and wmp11 :)

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Lourix on 12-02-2006 at 09:51 PM

Like most people here I use Winamp, it rocks!

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Menthix on 12-02-2006 at 10:59 PM

Winamp like always, classic skin... most of the time completely hidden, since i can do next/previous/play/pause from toolbar buttons anyway, its the music that matters :D.

Media Player Classic for video btw.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Voldemort on 12-03-2006 at 02:09 AM

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by linx05 on 12-03-2006 at 10:58 AM

Billy seems to be a lot like Evil Player. I might try it out.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by ranicx on 12-03-2006 at 11:39 AM

i used to use Winamp alot.. but when i got an ipod about 1 year or 2 ago, i slowly started to use iTunes alot more, and have come to like it more now and its pretty much all i use, apart from WMP when needed.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by saralk on 12-03-2006 at 12:29 PM

I used to use WMP, and I really liked it, but one day I was offered a free iPod nano, and even though I don't really like iPods, I wasn't about to pass up a free iPod nano, so I started using iTunes. I wanted to buy a song, and so I got it of iTunes, and now even though i don't have that iPod anymore, I have just under 200 iTunes tracks which has locked me into the iPod+iTunes system.

So that is why I use iTunes.

P.S. That would be a good way for MS to get people to use the Zune, offer them free Zunes!

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by MicroWay on 12-03-2006 at 03:02 PM

I use WMP 9...
I like it..
One time I uopdated to 10 just to see how it was... Don't liked it (sounds strange... don't know..) and have problems to come back to 9...

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Nagamasa on 12-04-2006 at 01:45 AM

I normally use Windows Media Player 11, but periodically Real Player for no apparent reason :P

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by sljaxon on 12-05-2006 at 09:07 PM

Zune Marketplace for music because I have a zune and zune zune pass (although its not that good, family member works for MS :D ) , VLC media player for everything else.

RE: What Music Player Do You Use? by Yetike on 12-05-2006 at 11:23 PM

Used to use Winamp until I discovered foobar2000 - configuration up to the yingyang - and billy.
For video playing, however, I use not yet mentioned stuff: MPlayer with MPF frontend (http://mpf.dzm.hu) is the one for me for it being amazingly lightweight and is without codecs (just like VLC and GOM Player).
Unfortunately, DVD playing isn't among the strengths of MPF, therefore I also have VLC and GOM installed.
