Scripting Contest - Final Strech by Patchou on 12-14-2006 at 12:33 AM

Hello,

there is less than a week left before the scripting contest ends and we’ve already received some impressive results! more than 70 scripts have been submitted and if you still didn’t send us your own work, you have until December 19th midnight (GMT-8) to do so. After that time, every script will be carefully reviewed a second time and the winners will be announced in January, along with the distribution of a special edition of the Messenger Plus! installer including the selected scripts. If you already thought Messenger Plus! had a lot of features, wait and see what some of these scripts can do for you! (actually, you don’t have to wait, you can already download all of them in the official database).

Appart from that, some of you may have noticed that Microsoft recently updated the public beta version of Messenger 8.1 (to build 168). In case you would wonder, the current version of Messenger Plus! (4.11) is entirely compatible with this new version so you can go ahead and update if you’d like.

See you in a week! (can you feel it? Christmas is here!)
Patchou

Special version of MPL with the scripts already installed? I'll wait to see that, sounds nice.

I hope the installer will ask the user which scripts they wish to install instead of forcing them on the user.

Other then that Dempsey and I are strugling to get Screenshot Sender 4 ready for an update.

Yey!!!
Liked the news Patchou (even  I'm not a Script Developer :( -> just a Script User)
Anyway... liked the idea of the "special instaler" with scripts.;..

In my opinion, the instaler have to instal the scripts without any asking... It's just to warning the people on "News" that the instaler instals the scripts...... If it has an opition to choose, I think people will get more confused... Or it can be done an opition to the user choose to instal Plus! with or wothout the scripts (without choosing witch one)

Errr. no. I'm 99% sure Patchou will give users the option to choose, with a list and a small desc. of each script.

Patchou

Question, purely out of interest, is that like midnight at the beginning or the end of the 19th? *-)
RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by Lou on 12-14-2006 at 10:07 PM

I would've entered, but the script I was planning on making would have taken too much time (I wouldn't have had any time to even start it anyway).

Good luck to all script creators, and Good luck to the judges too as they already have 70 scripts, and I'm sure they'll get more!

RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by Patchou on 12-14-2006 at 10:28 PM

lol.. it's midnight like in December 19th 11:59:59 PM.

He didn't mean releasing 2 other tomorrow, we're just going to start work on the tiny script and finish the larger one.  But we might not submit our newest one tomorrow, we might just release an English only version on the forum (depending on how quick the translators get back to us).  Though it is a shame that we didn't have more time to get all we wanted done for our big script, but you can expect an update with more features in the coming month/s depending how all these other scripts on my list go.  Anyway, more about that when I finish it in the morning.

* markee works quicker and quicker as the finish line approaches
RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by Menthix on 12-17-2006 at 04:41 PM

Just to be sure (a few people asked about it):

Scripts contest end date and time in your timezone

Make sure your script is emailed to the submit address at that time. Every script that is in the mailbox at that time will still be reviewed for the contest.

If you script isn't finished yet at the 19th, but you still think the script is usable and good enough to make a chance... make sure you disable the half-done/buggy features that aren't ready yet in a way so users won't get trouble because of it and submit. After the contest you can send in an update for it, although we wont look at updates submitted after the end time to judge your script.

RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by BraydenP on 12-19-2006 at 09:27 AM

Hello,

Why don't you just create a countdown on a website.

Then it will tell us the exact hours etc for it has to be in.

That website confused me.

Im in the UK.

And it's Tuesday, 19 December, 2006

So im confused .. (N) ..

Thanks,

BraydenP.

EDIT: Countdown to the end of the contest :)
RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by BraydenP on 12-19-2006 at 11:35 AM

Sorry guys. My wordwheel and spell checker couldn't compete here in this contest. :(

Good luck!

RE: Scripting Contest - Final Strech by matty on 12-20-2006 at 01:38 AM

SendTo v1.9 has been submitted.
Screenshot Sender 4 has one bug and it was cause I used bitwise comparison so once I fix that version 4.1.0 should be submitted and released on the forums. I may release tonight or tomorrow on the forum.

I first thought the deadline was @ 2 AM, I rushed like hell at 1:55 AM, but I was so relieved when I realized the deadline was actually @ 3 AM.
