RE: website concept (any good?) by albert on 12-18-2006 at 03:14 AM

* albert likes it. :)

RE: website concept (any good?) by Weyzza on 12-18-2006 at 03:21 AM

I love the gradient

But it really looks like "WLM theme."
Maybe it'll be better if you can come up with a more original one.
And I prefer the sidebar to be placed on the left because users with low resolution monitors or with small browser windows might not be able to see it.
People don't always have browser windows maximized.

RE: website concept (any good?) by NanaFreak on 12-18-2006 at 03:22 AM

its good...

one thing is that i think the link on the right are a little to close but other than that its quite good (Y)

i made it look vista-like on purpose, cuz i love its colors =P

most sites have the sidebar on the right, and if its on the left it makes me feel like a lefty ;<

you mean between the actual links or between end of links and next title? or do you mean horisontally close to the main text?

horisontally close to the main text

and also i think that it should be on the left hand side... i find most sites have it there :P

No, it doesn't.
I stand by my opinion that it should be on the left :p

Another valid reason: visual design classes always recommends the students to make anything top-left oriented, simply because most people in the world read from left to right, top to bottom, if you understand what I mean...
Unless you're from Middle East :p

RE: website concept (any good?) by Nathan on 12-18-2006 at 09:25 AM

Yeah it is nice,
But for some reason i think those links need to be at the side or underneath the header (in a box of some kinda)

What Nathan said or on the left, like Neopets :P

It might be better for the gradient parts to be narrower....it is slightly too large proportionally.

Exactly!

Usually if something is on the right it is usually full of ads or is some useless crap IMO so it might be more useful to move the nav bar.

Apart from that the gradients look great (looks like something that Microsoft should be using but are to stupid to think it up).
RE: website concept (any good?) by hmaster on 12-18-2006 at 12:42 PM

Nice concept, could be easily coded (Y) only thing is that it looks more like a wordpress theme *-).

RE: website concept (any good?) by Thor on 12-18-2006 at 12:54 PM

Nice, really simple, nice and clean.  Still I must support Weyzza, the navbar should be on the left :P

RE: website concept (any good?) by Eddie on 12-18-2006 at 01:53 PM

That looks very nice :) Good Job, (Y)(Y)(Y)(Y)(Y) five thumbs up :P

RE: website concept (any good?) by ins4ne on 12-18-2006 at 02:33 PM

Nice design but remembers me a bit on a Blog *-)

RE: website concept (any good?) by Rik on 12-18-2006 at 02:46 PM

i like it, but i think the copyright bar is to big...

Both true comments when you read them and then look at the image, but only the second one is really a bad thing in my opinion *-)
RE: website concept (any good?) by ins4ne on 12-18-2006 at 03:01 PM

I didn't say it was bad :O. I just said it looks like a blog. And the huge black copyright bar doesn't look really nice. It's too much dark in this 'happy' 'friendly' (meant for the colors ^o) don't find the right word atm) site.

RE: website concept (any good?) by Plik on 12-18-2006 at 03:47 PM

Noice (y)

Maybe a bit to much padding on the footer (footers are rarely that huge :P)

But other than the it looks good

RE: website concept (any good?) by Spunky on 12-18-2006 at 04:14 PM

Just my idea of what it should look like (based on whats been said)

RE: website concept (any good?) by hmaster on 12-18-2006 at 05:06 PM

Make it a 3 column site (Y)

RE: website concept (any good?) by ayjay on 12-18-2006 at 06:17 PM

No. Navbar on right.

Nav bar close to centre, and a slightly smaller title

Still its not hard to use percentage for the width values.

for one thing, on the concept i have "cleartype" text, and that is only visible in ie7, and do you hava segoe ui installed?

speaking of fonts, is it possible to somehow implement the font into the website so people without it could still view it properly?

RE: website concept (any good?) by Felu on 03-28-2007 at 03:33 AM

But still can you make a good looking design for feluowns.com?

Ignore the current design, its for a webmaster to see

RE: website concept (any good?) by ShawnZ on 03-28-2007 at 03:42 AM

the bottom gradient is too steep, and the two top gradients need some sort of seperation

Use font-family: "Segoe UI", Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; which will show Segoe UI if you have it installed in other browsers.

http://www.netmechanic.com/news/vol3/css_no15.htm

it takes a hell of a long time to load the page with an embedded font though, so it's much easier just to use a different font :P
RE: website concept (any good?) by Oxy on 03-28-2007 at 03:26 PM

Good, but i think the nav bar could do with being on the left ;)

RE: website concept (any good?) by redscheme on 03-28-2007 at 07:33 PM

impressive ... but i would use 1em or percentages instead of ex: 12px, 14px etc. when fixing a font size

^ thats why
