Hi everyone,


I have a problem with my Messenger Plus.  When I restart or shut down my computer the plus remove it self. So, every time I install it again and so on. Can any one help me with this problem. I want to install it one time only, not with each shut down.

I have the same problem - and it's damned infuriating! I did wonde if perhaps it was windows defender, but that's not the case.......

ok here are a few questions that best be answered first before coming to conclusions....

1) Answer either or :

    Do you have sweetim or smiley central installed at the moment?

    Did you have ever sweetim or smiley central installed?

2) Do you have the latest version of Both Windows Live Messenger (for 8.0 users latest is: 8.0.0812.00 and for 8.1 BETA users it is: 8.1.0168.00_ClientV8.1) and Messenger Plus! Live (version 4.11.251)?

3) Do you have something Like Windows Live One Care installed?


Once these questions are answered I think we will be well on our way to solving it.

yes, before i have it, but now no.

ok remove smiley central and you problem should be solved.

I still have the problem

try search for smiley central dlls and delete them. Smiley Central is known to leave dlls behind after removal.

before every thing work correctly, but one day i install plus again and every thing changed.

Start -> Search -> In the "A work or phrase in file" field put in Smiley Central-> Press Search.

If it finds any:
Right Click Each One -> Choose Delete -> Click Yes. If you can't remove one just move on and forget it.

If it doesn't find any:
remove both Messenger and Messenger Plus! and then go to "C:\Program Files\" and delete the "MSN Messenger" and "Messenger Plus! Live" folders. Then install both programs again.

Also, the second one doesn't benefit me

OK can you try running the search again...but this time allow it to search hidden files and folders as well. So do the same thing but before you hit search, under "More Advanced" Options, put a tick next to "Search Hidden files and folders".

i have the same prob but my case is kinda dif cause this is the first time i have plus and its icones on msn dont show after i restart or shut down my pc but there is one thing dont go after i restart my pc wich is i still can do the plus away stauts.
and i had smiley central before and i still have sweet im now so should i remove it?
