nooooooo, popup problem for the first time in years! by Supersonicdarky on 12-21-2006 at 03:20 AM

i dunno why, but rescently ie popups starting popping when i launch firefox :/

i have tried anti-viruses and anti-spywares and they still pop up. i looked at the processes, looked them up, nothing ;(

the only fishy thing i noticed is that i have 2 iexplore.exes running when ie isnt on. i looked with process explorer and they both seem to be valid (tho 2 different locations...) and if i kill them, they pop back up

nope, thats too obvious for me to miss

o ya, Might be caused by me trying "bitgrabber" a few days ago. but i removed it literaly a minute after i installed it and its too late now to do a sys restore. all points from that day gone =(

can you tell us wich sites pop-up?

then it might be easier to find what is causing those pop ups

you don't specify if it's iexplorer or iexplore
anyway, i don't think that analyzing the ads content might help. i would recommend you to check what's on your windows startup list, and disabling what's unknown for you (i use x-setup for that). this will surely fix your problem, but you still need to know how did that file entered your system. most likely it was caused by that biggrabber.

i looked at the startup before, didnt see anything. now looks like I found some "dumb inter.exe", hopefully removing it and anything related will solve the problem :)

yup, after deleting it (and unlocking with unlocker) all files in the same folder nothing pops up when i launch ff and the iexplore.exes dont pop back up after being killed

yay! :)
