if i get a laptop from dell, and it only has a 80gb hard drive, andi want to add a huge drive, would it be possible?

Depends the size of the 'huge' harddrive. They need to be smaller than the desktop versions, for obvious reasons.

I'm sure he means huge as in like 500GB :p. Not actual size of the HD.

But yeah, harddrives in laptops can be upgraded :). My dad upgraded from a 20gb to a 60gb.

You can, The bigest Hard drive for a laptop i have seen is 200GB..

Just in case you don't know how big [mass] a lappy hdd is, just poke around for the 2.5" ones. 3.5" are the desktop ones, and 5.25"? they're optical drives :P
