InterNLnet, there are too many providers to make a poll like this actually say anything...

RE: Which provider? by Oxy on 12-28-2006 at 02:30 PM

TalkTalk. and it's certainly not worth it. 1/2meg. internetz speed, and very unreliable.
But we dont wanna go without internetz for another 4 months to change, so we're stuck.

RE: Which provider? by nod32 on 12-28-2006 at 02:54 PM

Aol uk is the worst ever i had it 2 weeks ago i have bt now but it f**** up all the time and its hopless. Dont get this. lol

RE: Which provider? by andrewdodd13 on 12-28-2006 at 04:06 PM

BT. 8 Meg, Option 3 (40gb / month).

They gave me a free router. It doesn't tell you when you've used up your bandwidth allocation, it just fails to connect to the internet or resolve DNS.

But for some reason if you unplug/plug in the router then it's good for another gig or two.

It confuses me no end.

(Oh, and I get between 5-6mbps because of the distance from my exchange)

RE: Which provider? by Aeryn on 12-28-2006 at 04:11 PM

I use Starman (an Estonian provider).

RE: Which provider? by prashker on 12-28-2006 at 05:48 PM

Rogers HighSpeed (Extreme)

RE: Which provider? by saralk on 12-28-2006 at 05:59 PM

I use AOL UK. Before you call me a newb, let me tell you the deal i'm getting:

£19.99/month for 8Mb/s with no cap.

I don't know how I am getting that, but when I joined AOL, when broadband in the UK was just starting, I paid £39.99/month for 512kb/s, then it eventually went down to £24.99, then it went down to £19.99, then I got upgraded to 2Mb/s but the price should've gone up to £24.99, but it didn't

Anyway, one day, I connect to the internet and it was like "OMG 8MEG!" and the price didn't go up.

I don't want to do anything that might make AOL realise i'm paying too little, so i'm just going to sit quiet.

RE: Which provider? by vaccination on 12-28-2006 at 06:06 PM

Tiscali! (H)

2mb - £15.99 - unlimited downloads.

connection time 6/10 somtimes really fast most of the time slow
customer serivice  6.5/10 good when you are a new member if you are not new it fades down

RE: Which provider? by Weyzza on 12-28-2006 at 08:41 PM

I think the service differs from one region to another even though it's from the same company, so you can't generalize that.

Although I also think that AOL gives you loads of junk stuff (at least in the place I live), I cannot deny saralk has a good provider.

And, by the way, your poll sucks.

RE: Which provider? by Fuse on 12-28-2006 at 08:49 PM

And Orange isnt crap, i have never had any down time atall, And i am always getting a steady speed at about 7mbps.

Have been with Freeserve, wanadoo, and orange all the way, no problems atall.

Appart from the crappy call centers...

Telenor suck, actually.

I use Eclipse. The majority of big British ISPs suck because they have bandwidth limits.

bt have bandwidth limits you know you can never go over.

like 60gb.

doesnt mean they suck, bt is really good. fast, never ever down [been using for 3 years], good call centres. good company.

You must then have a contract for an Orange mobile phone then, which must cost more than £30/month.
We get our mobile phones through my dad's work, through some weird deal which i'm not completely sure about the details of, but bottom line is that my mobile phone line rental costs less than £30/month and we get a really good deal (we've never ever been charged more than the line rental)
