Windows OSs not everyone knows about by Supersonicdarky on 12-27-2006 at 10:52 PM

before I posted about MS Bob, which was an addon for win95 (never released). well today I found windows FLP (Fundamentals for Legacy PCs), windows 99 (an addon for 98), windows 96 (another addon for 95).

are there any other versions that exist that I dont know about? I'm making a collection of all OSs (excluding servers) before vista :)

Do you make a list or do you collect them (own them)? Have you got Windows 1.0? I know where you can get it from :P

Bob was released for 3.1, although it worked on 95 and actually every Windows version since.

Windows 96 was just a development version of Nashville, which got killed and became IE4.  It wasn't an addon, it's an actual OS.

Wikipedia doesn't have a "Windows 99" article, so therefore it must not exist. :zippy:

It doesn't, there is no such thing.  IIRC, it was just some mockups made up by someone which got passed around.

Fundamentals is a crappy version of XP for older machines. It's newish. It's designed more for terminal PCs than standalone.

My AIO DVDs got screwed up. I can't be bothered re-downloading them. I only have my (legit) XP Home and Pro CDs lying about now.

tho its probably possible to change 98 to 99 everywhere.

no, the actual installation screen was like that, it wasnt photoshopped :dodgy:

and after installation it said 99 everywhere, but its probably possible to replace it everywhere

well i donwloaded windows 99 but it seems to be a Windows 98 modified, it doesn't have any changes i think

I had Windows 99, but it was really a pirated copy of Windows 98 with lots of weird useless "tools" integrated.
