Find out CPU temp by intel on 01-02-2007 at 07:18 PM

How do you find out your cpu temp. (I have a laptop)

RE: cpu by Nathan on 01-02-2007 at 07:19 PM

Notebook hardware control

RE: cpu by Dr4g0n on 01-02-2007 at 07:20 PM

I recommend Core Temp. It's the most widely trusted temperature monitor used by overclockers.

However, unless you're overclocking (or you think you have a temperature problem [which I doubt unless you've changed the clock speed]) there's not really a need.

speedfan

The advantage of SpeedFan over CoreTemp is that SpeedFan allows you to change the speed of you fans (hence the name) to compensate for your temperature. It also shows the temperature of other parts of the computer, such as the case and hard drive temperatures.

What is a good temp temp have it in?

What do you mean by that post? The temp for a CPU to work correct or what? I know that CPUs must be build to work until they reach 76°C. Standard and norm of CPUs and stuff.

Search on google for more information. This is what I can provide you by hear and read...

I hope somebody gets what I mean :S

40C is a good temperature for an idle CPU, 50-55 for a working one

is that for any cpu? (no matter how many cores or the clock speed)
RE: cpu by kao on 01-02-2007 at 10:30 PM

That's just a good safe speed which is pretty comming.

Mine is 35-40c idle and 50c or so under load. easily safe and lots of people get those kind of temps.

That's what I have now. But after a while it goes up and it's too noisy. I have been meaning to get another fan or a new one (don't have a clue about these sort of things) one day. When I encode DVDs I can get around 60+. Which is VERY noisy.

Speed fan has to be compatible with your motherboard and stuff moreless to pick up that sort of information.

If your fans werent working your CPU would over heat very quickly(most cases). Also you'd hear a strange beeping noise as your PC would be telling you my fans arent working help.

Also fan1 and fan2 could and properly are system fans that not everyone's PC has  :-)

So don't worry about it.

Also if your not having trouble with your PC, you have no need to check temperatures. These things make you paranoid.

50-60 unload is normal for AMD CPU's , i been using Intel all the time.

I can assure you mine set constantly at 50-60oC.  unload it  use to hit 70-80.

But then again intel use to be power consumers generated much more heat.(at least presscott cores did :-) )

alby - If you don't/haven't had any issue's just forget about your temperature. It makes you think therres something wrong when theres not.

As people with different setups will tell you different temperatures for CPU's.

excuse me? thats what every program does :/

All programs that monitor your CPU monitor the CORE Temp of the CPU.

There ain't any other temp to monitor lol

As i said if your not doing over clocking and aren't having issue's with your pc stay away from system monitors.

MAKE you so paranoid its unreal and annoying.

Thanks, that re-assures me. :)

I think he means that it can show the temperature of each core in a dual core cpu, which is something speedfan cannot do. Which is correct.
