Try this:
Tools>Options>Messages>Tick Show a link to my offline messages in the main window

note: this way you'll have to click the offline messages in the main window to ctually read them. if you do choose that feature dont forget to check for it every time you sign in.

:D

More than likely something between your computer and the server it connects to.

However, are you sure you have Windows Live Messenger on your firewall's allowed list?

Are you by chance using Zone Alarm where your friends are not?

RE: Offline messages by chris_swopes on 01-14-2007 at 09:28 PM

how would i be able to check all that??

ok...windows live messenger is on my firewalls allowed list..

RE: Offline messages by MattyRid on 01-14-2007 at 09:39 PM

well I suppose you will have to wait until you get another offline message to be sure, also the other question was if you had Zone Alarm or not.

RE: Offline messages by chris_swopes on 01-14-2007 at 09:43 PM

how would i check and see if i had Zone Alarm or not?

RE: Offline messages by MattyRid on 01-14-2007 at 09:45 PM

well you would know because you just said you added it to your firewall allow list...but I will have to go on the assumption based on your posts that your not using it.

i checked to see if Windows live was on my firewall allowed list and it was, but i dont know where to find out if i have zone alarm or not. I also use dial-up, so could that have anything to do with my problem?

RE: Offline messages by MattyRid on 01-14-2007 at 09:59 PM

That could be a possibility, but that is hard to say as I know heaps that are using Windows Live Messenger on dial-up without a problem.

It's more than likely a firewall problem, or an ISP problem (which wouldn't surprise me)

RE: Offline messages by chris_swopes on 01-14-2007 at 10:03 PM

yea i figured the ISP was the problem since ive checked everything else..

Zone Alarm is a program. If you dont know what it is, dont worry. You dont have it to begin with (not that you have to have it.).
