Continuous, Reason-less Freezing by Nagamasa on 01-12-2007 at 03:31 AM

Help?

Coincidently,  after the installation of StuffPlug 3 Beta, this started occuring.
Note: I'm pretty sure this didn't occur on the original Beta version.

I'm running: Windows Live Messenger 8.01.0168 Beta
Messenger Plus! Live 4.11.0.254
StuffPlug 3.0.286 Beta

It seems like StuffPlug 3 nor Messenger Plus! Live is causing the error. I uninstalled both, yet it still happens. Resolving to eBuddy!

Un bump

Although I temporarily switched back to 8.0. Some users in the StuffPlug community have reported it too, but no responses there :(.

Well whadayaknow, i was trying to help Annuix (who i added to my WLM list when i left SP3 forums) with the very same problem last night (told him to try several things, don't know if it worked yet as i had to get some sleep) :O

What you could try is delete the contact caches/folders (the ones that correspond with your passport) of WLM 8.1:
%userprofile%\contacts
%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts
(start > run..type folders in as i put them above and hit enter to go there directly)
If these haven't been deleted when you uninstalled WLM 8.1 (note these are hidden folder so make sure you turn on "show hidden files/folders"). Then try to sign in again (will take a bit longer as it has to get your contactlist from the server).

If that doesn't work you can try the most drastic approach: a fresh install!
See Completely remove (MSN/Windows Live) Messenger

Good Luck! Post back wether or not it helped and wich method did.

Deleted. Now installing WLM 8.1. And off for breakfast (then school).

Thanks in advance!

You need to show hidden files/folders to be able to see the folders ;)
You could delete the whole folder but the one that really needs deleting is the one that corresponds with you passport (sowwy forgot to put that..will update previous post).

Still freezing...although not as much (if I remember correctly)

Time to resovle to Plan B - the more drastic one.

Though what setting will be deleted?
RE: Continuous, Reason-less Freezing by Sunshine on 01-17-2007 at 08:50 PM

In Plan B all settings will be deleted (including custom emotes, backgrounds etc.). There will be no trace left of (MSN/Windows Live) Messenger..so you can start new asif you never installed it before.

I tried Plan A again...and now I encounter yet another problem. Firefox is working fine, and yet WL and Yahoo Messenger are not logging in :S:@ (I'm on their respective webmail)....

and it seems now WLM is stuck frozen.

And yes, I did all the unplugging and stuff...
