Automaticlly open counterpart conversation window by francoisch1 on 01-14-2007 at 02:48 PM

hello

One knows that, starting a conversation triggers this:
- on my side: my conversation window opens
- on his/her side: a button appears down there into the task bar
plus some sounds.

Question: would it be possible that my counterpart's conversation window could also open?

Does some parameter exist somewhere into MSNM+ or Live+ to accomplish this?

I need to catch his/her attention much more than with just that small button showing up + sound.

Thank you in advance for your help.

F

I don't think you can control anything that happens on one others computer, unless they install a script =/

Thank you for you answers.

Let me first clear up what my actual need is: grab my 88 year old mother's attention; in this particular case, I will have no trouble installing a plug-in on her PC.

I will go and look into Hopperlive right away.

Thanks again.

Let me ask wether this plug-in would work with the regular MSN Messenger (not Messenger Live) along with MSNM Plus?

Or should I necessarily upgrade to Live + Live+?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hopper live works in the same way as blocking/unblocking people, so yes, it will work on all messenger versions.

Oxy, thank you for your answer.

I will go and proceed with the installation.

Whoops, there is a catch in installing.

Double clicking on the HopperLive.plsc file, I get the question "Which program to use to open this file?".

Looking into this, it seems to me that the plsc files have to be installed via WLM only.

Anyone knows a way to install these files with MSNM+ basic (not Live)?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Well considering Scripts are for Messenger Plus! Live only you might consider going to http://old.msgplus.net/pluginsdb/down/ and look for hopper there or search the forums

No... wrong conclussion... PLSC files are script packs which are to be installed into Messenger Plus! Live.

The reason why you get that error is because Messenger Plus! Live wasn't installed properly so Windows can't find it to start the .PLSC file with it.

There are also two main versions/branches for Messenger Plus!:

You have Messenger Plus! 3 and Messenger Plus! Live (=version 4).

Messenger Plus! 3 is compatible with Windows Messenger 4 and 5, and MSN Messenger 7.x.

Messenger Plus! Live is only compatible with Windows Live Messenger (=MSN Messenger 8 if you will)

If you are using MSN Messenger 7.x you can not use Messenger Plus! Live, but you'll need Messenger Plus! 3 which can be downloaded from here.

Note that scripts are only possible in Messenger Plus! Live. With Messenger Plus! 3 you can have plugins, which are quite different than scripts.

There is also a Hopper plugin for Messenger Plus! 3. See the link provided by MattyRid in his post.
More specifically: MsgPlus Plugins > New Function Plugins > Hopper

So, this has got nothing todo with Messenger itself, but with Messenger Plus! Live. To use scripts you need Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live...

Also note: Messenger Plus! is an addon. It is not a replacement for Messenger; it is a tool which need to be installed 'on top' of Messenger. You still would be using and chatting with Messenger. Messenger Plus! adds some new functions to Messenger (like scripting).

---------

As for the Hopper plugin (or script), it will not automatically bring the chat window in front on your contact's computer. This is impossible to do for any plugin/addon since you can not control what other people have installed or do on their computer (breach of privacy).

However, Hopper will show some toasts on your contact's computer which could catch your contact's attention...
Hopper by francoisch on 01-21-2007 at 08:59 PM

Folks, thank you for your kind answers.

I finally put my hands on Hopper and installed it.

I found my way to the Hopper Configuration panel and then I got stuck there.

I am still trying to figure out how I may get Hopper to trigger what is named Toasts, also what a toast really is.

Anyone who can clear this up for me would be welcomed.

Francois

'toasts' are those little popup windows that appear on the lower right corner of your screen when a contact signs on or/and when you receive a message.

RE: Automaticlly open counterpart conversation window by francoisch on 01-22-2007 at 08:18 AM

hello FineWolf

I actually need to reinforce these popups into which way I could find: make them larger, make them sound harder, make them stay as opposed to vanishing 2 seconds after poping up, ...

What Hopper can do for me along theses tracks?

Thank you in advance.

Nothing at all, only things you can do is make them popup several times and put a personal message in em. You can't alter anything on your contacts computer regarding how and if they appear etc. (besides the message)..its just online notification toasts it triggers at your contact's side (block/unblock makes it seem you logged in again). Also your contact will need to have online notification toasts in WLM/MSN Messenger enabled in order to see them (wich is enabled by default).

RE: Automaticlly open counterpart conversation window by francoisch on 01-22-2007 at 08:46 PM

hello folks

I seem to be starting to understand that:
- I can send toasts whenever I want, thanks to Hopper
- I can't modify anything in toasts shape, sounding, size, ...
Right?

OK, I will go and look more into Hopper to undertsand how I can send toasts.

Thank you for your kind help.
