Have you ever had a system failure?

I have never had a system failure of any kind, so i thought this would determine if its a every-day thing or a one off thing. There is a poll to vote.

yep, my RAM failed me about 6 months after I got my computer (it was my own fault, but the shop didn't know that). Replaced it with warranty coverage.

As for software-related failures, Windows has BSODed me before, maybe 10 times total?

My computer now has a tendency to now go; BOOM...no BSOD. Or it just freezes :S

Got BSODs before, and i lost a few megs of RAM on my old computer somehow.

But ever since i have been using vista (about 5 months or so) I have not had any problems at all.

Define 'system failure'.

umm a few BSOD's and a problem with overheating, about it.

RE: Have you ever had a system failure? by Spunky on 01-24-2007 at 03:08 PM

Several dozen BSODs (not what I would class as the "classic" ones, but the ones that have "STOP messagaes")

Two hard drives have died (both 80Gb... Coincidence?)

Had to reinstall OS about 30+ times in total (most of which were probably down to me messing with things I shouldn't...)

I get BSODs. Alot. But I know why. It's my graphics card fan... it doesn't work properly. lol.

my laptop died for a sec a couple of days ago, but it was probably cuz i accidentally released the battery

That makes no sense.

I've had a few of them. Usually just windows breaking. Annoying, but since I don't download virus (or click the first link I see) they have huge time gaps between themself.

On my old computer my hard drive completely crashed. The computer wouldn't detect it and when we opened it up to see, the disc bid had smashed in to bits.

Yes, it was caused by over-clocking too high =[

I'm amazed at the fact that 4 have answered 'No' to the poll. I'll be darned if everyone hasn't at least experienced an OS crash at some point - especially if they were using computers before Windows XP came out.

Yep. Laptop tends to BSOD for no reason (and usually at the most inconvient times) and at times, it randomly switches off (I think it's overheating)

I don't usually get a lot of software problem, more hardware though.  My latest was a failed network card & a dead power supply.

On my old computer i had several BSoDs and crashes. Overheating, PSU fuxed up and other stuff. On my new one I had a problem with a partition and used Partition Magic to merge it with C. Result MBR fuxed and format disc :(.

RE: Have you ever had a system failure? by vikke on 01-28-2007 at 08:03 PM

Nope, not any at all. I'm the lucky man
