I can't sign into Windows Live Messenger, or Windows Messenger, or even go to login.live.com

Does anyone know why I can't do this?

I've registered all the dlls and checked security settings. I've done everything I could find, but I'm still not able to do anything.

I can't use MSN's web messenger but I can use other sites, such as meebo.com

Do you have another passport address you can try?  To see if it is a problem with the account itself or settings etc.  Or another computer you can try and login to Messenger etc with?

Is it only login.live.com or you there are more live that you can't access. Do you get a 404 error? Also have you checked your hosts file(/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts)?

I've done some research with the extended error code you gave me Joe. From what I can tell, there is a problem with your hosts file. Two things I've found:

Did you recently install a ad-blocking program or anything of the sort? If you can't find any MSN related entries in your hosts file, zip it up and send it to me.

Next there's a problem because of a proxy. Do you use one to connect to your ISP or use one to connect to Messenger?

I'm back to bisuness. It must have been something the IT department had to sort out.

i am having the same problem and have been trying to solve it for weeks. I dont have messenger plus and the problem has only been since i installed a webcam. I am able to acces live messenger on another computer with the same ID. please help

Well the chances are that the problem will be fixed by MSN/WLM soon. How long has it been like this? There might be a chance that its you (not you but your pc). Have you installed any programs, got a new router or changed any settings?

I have the same problem. When I type live.com, hotmail.com or outlook.com in the address block it goes to a site that says live.com but there is nothing else on the page. I can't acccess my email or anything else. The address block shows the following URL:

https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&ct...&snsc=1&cbcxt=mail

There are no error messages or anything else. It is just a blank page with no information or options.

Can anyone please help me?

Check your HOSTS file to see if it is redirecting you.
