Hotmail gone weird... by Wast on 02-08-2007 at 06:52 PM

For some reason, when I got to my Hotmail account, I'm missing all the integrated Windows Live Messenger-Hotmail features, such as quick replies when contacts are online, and such. Can anyone advise me on what to do? And, just to let you know, I am signed in to WLM.

I'm using WLM Version 8.0.0812.00, for the record.

Could you give us a screenshot? I'm not so sure what you're talking about.

You mean the little icons and such for MSN spaces, sharing folders etc. are gone?

No- like this. It's on my Hotmail account.

Basically, this is the 'Contacts' section of my inbox. Now, usually, where there is a blank space, there should be a little green or red Messenger icon displaying whether or not the contact is signed in (assuming I'm using WLM, which I am).

Also, whenever I am sent an e-mail from someone on my contact list, and is online, I usually have an option saying: Instant Reply, which starts an IM convo with them. However, this feature has gone.

It looks like they're not loading, try deleting your cache and then reloading the page.

How do I delete my contact cache again? It's something I've heard about many times, but never actually done.

Not your contacts cache, you browser cache.

IE 7:

   1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options... .

   2. Choose the General tab.

   3. Under Browsing history, click Delete... .

   4. Next to "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete files... .

   5. Click Close, and then click OK to exit.

Internet Explorer 4+

   1. From the Tools menu (for version 4.x, the View menu), select Internet Options... .

   2. Choose the General tab.

   3. In the "Temporary Internet Files" section, click Delete Files... .

   4. To confirm the deletion, click OK.

   5. In the Internet Options dialog box, click OK.

Firefox: Tools > Clear private data

hope this helps

I think this option has been removed. Since I haven't seen it since WLM. Why do you need it anyway? You have just msn/windows messenger in order to talk.

Nah, no success, I'm afraid. But meh.

Try upgrading to Windows Live Mail. Perhaps that might solve your problem.

Windows Live Mail does't have the 'quick reply' feature yet.
Reinstall WLMsgr or upgrade to version 8.1 might help.

Hrm, I think I'll try upgrading later on today.

I've actually done some research now.

The instant reply was taken off because maybe nobody used it much. Most likely the same deal with the online/offline icons.

Everything is loading fine, there appears to be no problem.

Oh sweet. Thanks for that.

It's actually quite funny, because every so often they do display, if I leave the page for about an hour. :\

But thanks anywhoo. I think that's a problem resolved.
