help with windows vista by TheMusicPirate on 02-12-2007 at 01:38 AM

a long time ago i downloaded some games and they are disc images. and i tried to install alcohol 120% and deamon tools. they both give me a erroe that i have to grant the progrm and i have no idea permission to be used and i have no clue how to, also i went to the alcohol 120% forum and they said that windows vista does not support it yet.

so is there nother way to mount the images, with out have to burn them?

thanks

Daemon Tools works on Vista (the latest version)

RE: help with windows vista by TheMusicPirate on 02-12-2007 at 01:42 AM

is there a special way to install deamon tools?

No, just open the installer, it should ask you to restart to install the SCSI (or whatever :P). Then you restart, then upon boot it loads the installer and installs Daemon Tools.

Worked fine for me (Vista RTM Ultimate)

install it in XP Compatibility i would assume if you cant get them to install in Vista

it installed ok, but when i click on the icon to run it, it gives me this message "please use local administator account to run deamon tools for the first time"

The latest versions of Daemon tools and Alcohol 120% are perfectly compatible. If you're facing problems, Compatibility mode solves them :)

Start > Run > "control userpasswords2" > Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Customize Colors

You can't change the colour very much, only "tint" the colour of the gradient.

To change this tint, go to Control Panel, and under "Appearance and Customization", click "Customize Colors" (on the right hand side, in Classic View it is under Personalization > Window Color and Appearance).
There should be a range of different colors (and a hidden color mixer at the bottom if you want a different color).

Well it's not exactly hard to find stuff like that in Vista because Vista's search owns. :P Just type keywords into the Search box in the upper right corner of the Control Panel. (in this case "desktop icons")
First result: "Show or hide common items on the desktop".
