Screen goes black! by Thor on 02-15-2007 at 06:08 AM

:)

I've installed ubntu on my laptop, and when I did, I resized a partition which doesn't have anything to do with the booting.
Now, if I start my laptop, and choose ubuntu, the loader appears. When it's done loading, it disappears, and nothing happens. The screen is on, but black.
So happens if I try to boot Vista, the loader appears, then disappears, and the screen stays black. :(

I've tried running the Vista setup, but it doesn't start! And the ubuntu CD won't start either! (However the ubuntu CD gives some errors.)

I need my laptop very soon, so I'd really love if someone could help me.
And no, there are no recovery disks. :P

Thanks.

i had a recovery partition that was 6 gigs on my laptop. so i formatted it and had it as a porno drive xD and now i need to recover it :@... but anyways.. can you explain the problem a little better? how new is the laptop and have u tried it with an external moniter? sounds like it could be your VGA card.

Well, now the problem is solved, maybe I should have edited it. :P
But thanks for actually replying.

how does resizing a partition effect the gpu? =/

but just to rule the gpu possibility out, try booting a linux live cd/dvd

dsl - very tiny image so you wouldnt waste time downloading a 4gig dvd image

you wasted 4 minutes of my life

and i didnt notice thread is old...

i'm sorry, but the problem is solved. :P

And, as I said, I did get any error trying to boot a linux live CD.
