Contact crawler? by the1 on 02-16-2007 at 04:04 PM

Thank you

Sorry, this is impossible I'm afraid, as well as being a breach of privacy.

This is already a feature in Windows Live Messenger...

Always explore software first before making suggestions ;)

The contacts of your contact, who have given their explicit permission to be on your contact's friends list, are viewable by right clicking on the contact in the contact list and choosing View > Friends list.

As fatfreechicken has said, there is no way you can simply view the contacts of a contact without having the permission of those contacts of your contact because that is a very big breach of privacy. Something like that will never ever be implemented...

That would probably be because your friend hasn't given you those permissions. You could either ask him or do nothing about it.

How can he/she/it/..../ do that?

RE: Contact crawler? by vikke on 02-16-2007 at 09:19 PM

You will be told under the contacts list toolbar, in the yellow field, when you added/got added by/ a friend. You can choose from there :).

YOU can give YOUR permission to be listed on YOUR contact's friend list, so that the CONTACT of your CONTACT can see YOU on the friend list of YOUR contact.

It is done via Windows Live Spaces.
Note 1: Before you can add someone to YOUR Friends list, you must have a profile on your Windows Live Space.
Note 2: YOUR space permissions determine who can view YOUR Friends list.
Note 3: Other people MUST give THEIR permission to appear on YOUR Friends list.

See and read "http://help.live.com/ > Windows Live Spaces" to know how...
- Explore other people and their spaces
- Add someone to your friend list
- Edit or delete a friend in your friends list
- About setting permissions
(if link doesn't display properly, reload the link)

PS: very important: for everybody: If you do not want your MSN email known to 3rd parties, clear your entire friends list and do not use it. There is something very dodgy with the list where if you add someone to your list, you automatically will be added to their list. And thus you actually will not have control anymore as to who can see your MSN email or not.... So, if you do not want your email known, clear your friend list completely and do not accept requests to be added...
