WLM Crash by bigbob85 on 02-25-2007 at 10:24 PM

Hey.
I have this really weird crash, and I'm not sure if its plus related or anything.

It usually happens when I a contact signs in and I click the pop-up. WLM just crashes.

Windows Vista (6.0.6000)
Windows Live Messenger 8.01.0178
Messenger Plus! Live 4.11.0.254

I have also had this problem on WinXP.
I have used MessPatch aswell.

Next time it happens, I should be able to get a more technical report about it.
Has anyone else had this problem?

EDIT :

Ohh, I forgot to say, I wasn't sure if it was a WLM , MP!L or MessPatch problem. But I do remember when I click the pop-up and WLM goes to not responding, it unloads all my tabbed chats into separate windows.

have you tried it without mess.patch installed?  have you got smiley central or anything else installed? sweetIM ?

RE: WLM Crash by Voldemort on 02-26-2007 at 04:29 AM

My guess would be that it is mess patch's fault... can you try a clean install?

RE: WLM Crash by bigbob85 on 02-26-2007 at 06:42 AM

Nope, no smiley central or anything like that.

Has anyone else used Mess patch and had the same problem? Maybe its one of my settings. Ill keep going untill it crashes, which isn't too often. When it does I'll see what contacts I had online, whether some were blocked, offline, yahoo contacts or whatever.

Once I find this out, and replicate it, I'll remove mess patch and try then.

if you can reproduce it, please let me know. My guess however is that this bug is in Messenger itself (but you never know, better safe than sorry).

RE: WLM Crash by deAd on 03-02-2007 at 02:34 AM

I have this problem on XP. WLM crashes at times other than just clicking a sign-in toast. It crashes when opening sharing folders from a chat window, sometimes from changing status from the tray, and more...

RE: WLM Crash by bigbob85 on 03-02-2007 at 05:31 AM

Hmmm.... alot of people have been getting this problem with Java 6 installed. Its apparently not compatible with WLM 8.1 for some reason.

But if thats the case, there would be alot more people complaining about it.

deAd, do you have java 6 installed?

java 6 works fine and dandy with WLM 8.1

RE: WLM Crash by bigbob85 on 03-02-2007 at 03:16 PM

But are you using Windows Vista?

RE: WLM Crash by Kenji on 03-02-2007 at 03:37 PM

I have had this happen to me once..

Windows Vista Home Premium (6.0.6000)
Windows Live Messenger 8.01.0178
Messenger Plus! Live 4.11.x

Hasn't happened on 4.20.0.262 though...

RE: WLM Crash by bigbob85 on 03-02-2007 at 10:33 PM

Well... I've had this happen to me alot on XP and Vista, so I don't think its OS compatibility. Something with my messenger, or that I have done.

Does anyone else have yahoo contacts that appear offline?
