First convert all to the same size...so either mb or gb, not both.

Online converter: http://www.onlineconversion.com/computer_base2.htm

Afterwards convert to gb if you used mb.

Rough estimate (not exact calculation..just looking at gb then roughly puttin in mb): 218/220 gb, so atleast a HD of 250 i'd say..but look towards the future too ;)

TheMusicPirate,

are those the sizes of all your directories? In that case you can simply go to your DOS prompt (Start > Run > cmd.exe) and enter and execute the following dos command:

DIR  c:\  /S

this will start to list everything on your disk and at the end will show you how much bytes it is in total.

---

Or, of course, you could always right click the drive in Windows Explorer and look at the amount of bytes used. :p

If I haven't made any mistakes it is:
225,126 gig

RE: i need help figureing out how much this is by TheSteve on 03-07-2007 at 03:23 PM

If you treat 1GB as 1000 MB then foaly is right.  If you treat 1GB as 1024 MB then the answer is 225.01875 GB.

In either case it's just over 225 GB.

Here's a formula to convert 'retail size' to 'actual size '. This assumes that the manufacturer is using 1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes (instead of 1GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes as they should).

Actual Drive Size = Retail Drive Size * 0.931

This formula is an approximation. Many times they'll round the drive size somewhat, but this gives you a rough idea of the real world space.

For Quick Reference:

36gb = 33.5gb
40gb = 37gb
60gb = 55gb
74gb = 69gb
80gb = 74gb
100gb = 93gb
120gb = 112gb
160gb = 149gb
200gb = 186gb
250gb = 233gb
300gb = 279gb
350gb = 326gb
400gb = 372gb
500gb = 465gb

These are rounded to the nearest gigabyte.

There now, we couldn't have made it easier.
