Blank display name space... by warmth on 03-25-2007 at 02:46 PM

I have a question that I can't solve... I have tried so many things and I have so many suspects but I can't solve this...

I post a pic to ilustrate the problem, If you see it... you will notice a difference between the two displayed names... the blank space without background and the blank space with a white background... One screenshot is from my desktop pc (the first one without the white) and the other is from my laptop (the second one with the white)...

If you see it detailed... you can watch that is only a background problem cause the font in white is equal in both...

My desktop is pentium D 3.2 GHz with windows xp pro sp2 in spanish and my laptop is a AMD Semprom 1.6 Ghz with windows xp home sp2 in english... both have ATI video cards enabled... and so on... (if you need more info ask me)...

I can figure out why this difence in the way that display names are displayed... :-# I have tried many many things and nothing solves it... I don't know if that is MP!L bug or incompatibility with some software that I have installed in my desktop pc or anyother thing...

By the way I have all last releases of WLM, MP!L, SP and MD installed in both...

I think it would help if you posted the code you used to make the name.

I wanna add that I've tried this in several pc's (in my new desktop for example) and some act like my desktop and some act like my laptop... this maybe is related to graphics config of each pc... can somebody tell me how I can put all pcs to see the white stripe instead of the blank space???

heya,

this is the way richedit controls work in Messenger (and in general), I cannot change that. What you can do is replace 0,0 by 0,#FFFFFE .

probably some kind of regional settings, or maybe a difference in versions for the control.

Ok patchou, thanks for your reply... I will try changing some regional settings to see what those will cause and let you know here.... when you said versions for the control, what do you exactly mean???

I was talking about the version of the system richedit control. Depending on what you have installed on your systme, you may not have the same version of this control and this is what Messenger uses to display its text in places where Plus! adds color.
