Shortly after I sign in my messenger live, which has messenger plus addon I get this error



I can keep the message up and use the messenger, It did work before but last couple of days it crashes shortly after. If I click "dont send" button it also crashes and messenger closes. This problem apeared in the last week, never before and I'm using messenger for years now and live edition since it came out. I am connected to the net via router- cable internet, use Norton internet security and thats all concerning the connection.

I can't use my messenger all of a sudden, I beg you guys for any help.

have you tried re-installing messenger at all? that would be a good first step

I did reinstall messenger live and plus, didn't work.

Does it happen without plus! installed?
Any other add-ons? Or any scripts that you have enabled, try to disable them?

Hm its the same without plus, maybe its the plugin for winamp that shows what im listening to, as its the only addon i have but I dunno how to delete it, maybe unninstal winamp ?

doesn't work, nothing does work how do i uninstal addons? Is it ebough if i reinstall and delte the messenger folder ?

Ok, thanks for this guide Matty, It indeed fixed my problem.. Although i have a strange problem everytime i want to acces "C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\" folder- explorer error comes up, if i even click on the messenger folder all windows immediately close. I cant delete the damn folder or scan it with antivirus or spyware or change its preferences, I even copied the folder on my desktop and I cant delete that one also :/ , it's getting on my nerves... It contains another folder named after my email adress and both folders are empty.

have you allowed access to hidden files? that could be part of the problem...remote chance but it could be.

and how do i do that ? Oh and BTW error is still here, probably because i couldnt delete that msn folder.

if you go Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Under "Hidden files and folders" ensure "show hidden files and folders" is selected.
