Our Body: The Universe Within by Rolando on 05-19-2007 at 03:50 AM

It's an "exposition" about the human body.. they travel around the country (USA). They've real human bodies on display.

We went there with the school, and I found it grotesque. Yeah, very informational and "graphical" (hell, they even had hair you know where!) but seeing all those people sliced up or put on display is just not something I liked.

All those people are there not because they wanted to and that was their last wish (there's odd people like that..) but because they're Vietnamese (I think) unclaimed bodies (know for sure).

Yes, you can learn a lot from it and see the skin, muscles and everything which allows a better understanding of human physiology, so it's not all bad.

What do you think? Should this be prohibited or do they have the right to do this? Would you visit it?

I find it hard to believe you would like to have your body naked on a stand ^o)

Besides, they didn't choose to be there, nor did they families agree (although they're unknown, they must be one somewhere!)

The bodies on display are there of that persons own will.  Those people sold their bodies to the exhibit before they died, to be dissected and put on display after they died.

::EDIT::  (I forgot to add) I went to see this last year in Denver.  I thought it was awesome.

I watch this show thats exactly like that, showing how the body works and stuff. I actually found it very interesting. But my ICT teachers brother works as a camera man on the show and said it really smells. ;o. Hm I cant remember the name of the show *-)

Hey, If people want to see my love muscle I don't mind ;)

I don't see what's so gross about it, like SSD said, they're dead :P

Sounds kinda interesting tbh.

I went to see that in London, it was just called "BODIES"

I found it a real eye opener, although the tickets cost an arm and a leg.

got any proof of this ?? i very much doubt they could get away with it, if the person hasn't consented be fore death

Well we had something like this a while back at the Science Centre, but I didn't get to see it. :( Some of the younger grades did though...

Whats cooler than helping in science being dead?!

It was called "Body Works" (which also appears in the new James Bond: Casino Royale), and I went. I think if the person or the person's family gives consent, then its ok. Its not for anything other than scientific purpose. If the family wants a burial, then the family's wishes should be respected.
