Noob help on dual booting XP/Ubuntu - Printable Version

Hey everyone, Im planning to install ubuntu on my slave drive (XP on currenly on primary drive) The thing is I have no idea where to start. Any advice would be appreciated. Im also currently searching the net but I thought it would be a good idea to post here.

Download the ISO / Order some CDs.
Follow the standard install procedure on the disk.
At the end, GRUB (the Linux bootloader) will install onto your primary hard disk (hopefully) allowing you to choose between XP and Ubuntu at boot up. (It should be noted that it will probably try to boot to Ubuntu by default, this can be changed after you've installed).

Will Ubuntu install on my primary drive or slave drive using this procedure?

they're on seperate drives, not seperate partitions :p

when installing ubuntu, choose hard drive b instead of hard drive a? :p

How will select which OS to boot from?

on boot it gives you the options, so just press the up or down arrow to select [and press enter=p].

Im currently installing but on step 5 of 7 (Migrate Documents and Settings) it seems to get hung up. Does this step take a while to complete?
