i have search n read the forum but i have not read any cases lik mine, hope anyone can help me.


recently, contacts that were added by my friend or added by me appear offline.

they 'appear offline' to me but the fact is, on the other side (my friend's msn) it is online. i can't chat with them though till they click on me and actully chat with me.

And even after they chated with me, they still appear offline in my msn but im online in their msn.

"contact is not in ur list, click here to add them" i click on it but still the same problem.

and even if i added them FIRST, its still the same situation.
They are offline in my msn but im online in theirs'.

i have checked the privacy (options), allow and block, their contacts are in the 'allow'.

i'm not sure what's the cause of it. it's just happened recently


MSN VERSION: 8.1 (Build 8.1.0178.00)


tired reinstalling and repairing but still the same
i email microsoft but yet to receive a response.

what does that means?

as far as I know, deleting and re-adding of contacts is not required, why you have done that baffles me, never saw that in CookieRevised's instructions

ok . so lets say i follow his/her instruction, how do i know if the problem is solved solely just on my msn?

sounds like a server issue, and same thing with sending messages as well for the time being anyway.

hmmm, but its like every now and then i checked that, it always display that.

one hour later, a day later, stil the same; "the contact information could not be saved. Check the contact's information and try again."

the server can't have problem all the time?

don't laugh...considering we are talking about Microsoft, it wouldn't surprise me...although the only other thing is try deleting your contact cache and see if it helps...I know for XP it's at C:\Documents and Settings\<XP account name goes here>\Contacts and remove the cache associated with your email. I would do this once you know the contact solution is sorted out.

i done the cache method before (done cache method before cookie's) and it totally freak me out!!

contact list is screw..as in my contact are not in group... lol

I'm referring to CookieRevised's solution.

Also the most likely reason you didn't get a response is due to lack of deatil, always provide messenger version, firewall and anti-virus programs used, version of windows and explain in the problem in as much detail as possible.
