Game recommendations by MeEtc on 06-24-2007 at 01:38 AM

I'm looking for some suggestions for game titles that I might get. I'm looking for something in the FPS genre, but is able to run on an aged and under-powered system. I have already tried both Battlefield 1942 (doesn't quite fit my taste) and the original Call of Duty (runs pretty good, but text isn't being rendered properly).

Now, for system requirements, my box is a bit outdated. 1.66GHz Athlon XP processor, 224MB RAM and 32MB onboard video.

I went looking for myself, and came up with GTA3, Unreal Tournament 2004 and HalfLife. Can anyone give me an opinion about any of these or recommend any others?

Counter-Strike Source ;o

it will run on your computer a little slow but still will work,

i have a 2GHz Athlon XP processor, 1536MB RAM, 64MB video card (nVidia 6200)
i run it on 640 x 480 and i get 30fps in standard playing...

you will just have to run things on a very small res and have the quality down a little bit :)

America's Army. Free. Should work on your PC.

Edit: Uhh, looking at the minimum requirements, it might not.

UT04 ftw. Very fun game to play.

Try some CS 1.6. Its only like $5 off of steam these days

Guildwars... :P

Buy a graphics card that doesn't use shared memory and it should work.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and it's free. It's ok itself but some of the mods for it make much better.

Thanks everyone! For now I have settled on UT, and we shall see how this goes.
