Emotisounds by kiki on 06-25-2007 at 03:02 PM

Hi I read loads of posts on emotisounds but they didn't helped me wirh my problem !
I can hear emotisounds but i can't send them (actually i can but neither i or the person i speak to can hear it)
someone said something about going in preferences and commands : I must be stupid but I don't see it anywhere ...

RE: Emotisounds by aphrodite on 06-25-2007 at 06:56 PM

I have the same problem, even though all the right boxes are checked I still can't hear the sounds! WHY?!

RE: Emotisounds by MicroWay on 06-25-2007 at 07:57 PM

As replyed by me on other post, you must enable the comands. You can find the opition to enable the comands on Plus! > Preferences > Conversations Tab > Enable comands...

RE: Emotisounds by kiki on 06-26-2007 at 04:28 PM

He didn't say anything about emotisounds in that tab, he just said commands ;)

You need to make sure that "Enable Commands" is checked in the conversations tab :)

Yes but nobody seems to be able to answer my question....

RE: Emotisounds by MicroWay on 07-05-2007 at 06:09 PM

Sorry, I don't have any ideas more, but have you tryed to reinstal Plus!???? Make a full unistal and try again... :S
Another thing, maybe can help us: do you recieve the sounds and don't hear them??? When you want to hear from the list before you send it, you don't hear it???? Your contacts can hear the sounds??? What version of Plus! and OS are you using???

RE: Emotisounds by aphrodite on 07-05-2007 at 06:14 PM

I've uninstalled and reinstalled WLM and Messenger Plus too many times to remember, in the sound library I click a sound to hear it and it doesn't play, I can't hear the sounds before I send them or after, I can't hear any sounds I have been sent, basically I can't hear anything! I'm using the latest version of Messenger Plus and I'm using Windows XP service pack 2

RE: Emotisounds by MicroWay on 07-05-2007 at 08:52 PM

I have to say sorry, but I haven't any idea of why the problem is hapening, let's wait for someone else to reply... maybe there is a new solution....

Maybe we are skiping one little detail too... :S

;)

RE: Emotisounds by vaccination on 07-06-2007 at 08:25 AM

aphrodite: The only suggestion I have, if you've already done this is to go to Plus > Preferences > General tab > Sounds > and make sure "Allow built-in sounds to be played" is checked.

Only other thing I can think of, is, are you set to Busy(though I don't think this effects playing sounds in the sound library)? And are you sure your sound is functioning properly, for example, can you hear normal messenger sounds, such as when you recieve a new message etc. And can you hear music etc say in WMP?

RE: Emotisounds by aphrodite on 07-06-2007 at 11:49 AM

Yes everything is as it should be in the preferences, in WLM i can hear all the sounds except when a wink is sent to me, i see the animation but i don't hear the sound, but in WMP i hear everything, no sound problems, no audio codecs needed, no speaker problems. The computer says that everything is working as it should.... That's why this is soooo frustrating! ^o)

RE: Emotisounds by ahmetgns on 07-06-2007 at 05:14 PM

Make sure that your speakers are connected very correctly. I mean if your speakers are four point surround or 5+1 speaker system, check the connections to make sure that they are all correct and fits the instructions on the Manual of the speaker system.

Then, go to Control Panel>Audio, Speech and Music Devices>Audio Effect and Audio Devices>(On the Speaker settings part)Advanced> And here select the most appropriate speaker setting Because Windows Media Player uses all speakers on my computer ( I have a FourPointSurround system) when I'm listening to music on WMPlayer but Emotion Sounds and Winks (and maybe a bit more) uses only my Front speakers. (Also this help is valid for XP :))

None of this matters as all other sounds work on her computer. Even those in messenger itself, just not those of Plus!.

But I am at a loss as to what else to suggest, aphrodite, sorry.

Wait a minute....
Now I think I loose something...
Aren't you talking about Emotion Sounds????
When came the Winks on the story?????
So you have requested help to one thing, but actualy, the problem is in another point, no????? :S

Or the problem is with Plus!'s Emotion Sounds (I know it's a unneed repetition to say that is from Plus!) AND with winks????
RE: Emotisounds by aphrodite on 07-06-2007 at 07:54 PM

Steady on... I asked for help with the emoticon sounds which are used in Messenger Plus otherwise I wouldn't have written in the Messenger Plus forum don't you think? It was merely an observation of mine that I came across 2 days ago that there was no sound when someone sent me a wink... Is that a good enough explanation for you?

RE: Emotisounds by CookieRevised on 07-15-2007 at 03:44 PM

That means you needed to configure (and maybe even install) the proper drivers for your soundcard.

Putting those entries directly into the registry is not a good idea as they might/are different for everybody and it depends on what sound card you have etc.

That this worked for you is somewhat a coincidence. Well, not entirly though, as those drivers you listed are mostly the generic drivers, but still. You now might have other problems hearing sounds or playing stuff with other file formats and/or codecs..

Anyways, as said you should've checked your sound configuration and drivers in your Configuration Panel instead of manually adding (maybe incompatible) associations for drivers...

;)

RE: Emotisounds by aphrodite on 07-15-2007 at 06:50 PM

I was very careful to check the drivers for my soundacrd beforehand and they were all up to date as were the codecs I had installed, installing the generic drivers has resolved all the problems I had with Messenger Plus regarding the emoticon sounds and the WLM winks sounds.
