Going mad here (taskbar icons) by Step666 on 06-25-2007 at 10:06 PM

I think I'm going nuts.

I swear there used to be an option to change the icons displayed in the taskbar to the one corresponding to messenger's current status.
But I cannot, for the life of me, find an option in WLM, msgplus or any of the scripts I have that allows this.

I've searched but I can't seem to find the answer here either.
Please, am I going mad or can someone point me in the right direction?

Well, if I get it right, the WLM's icon on taskbar (that for me is the icon near the clock) automaticly changes depending of the status.... The buddy goes grey when as offline; goes green as online; goes green with a clock when away, idle, lunch or be right back and goes green with the red circle when busy or in a call....
There isn't an opition to enable/disable this...
;)

Maybe I'm missing something??? :S

That's the system tray.
I mean the other part of the bar, where you have all your currently open windows.

I probably didn't describe it too well, sorry.

Ohhh... sorry

So you're talking about that???

Sorry if I still didn't get it.... :S

Getting closer but not quite.
I have StuffPlug, so I have all those functions already.

Maybe I'm just confusing myself but I thought there was a way of getting the icon for the main window (ie the contact list) to reflect your own status, in much the way the tray icon does.

I only ask because I'm using a shell for Windows that doesn't display text in the taskbar, so every time I look at the icon on it's own, I think it's signing in.
I can probably learn to live with it though.

Thanks for your help though :)

:$ Well, now, maybe it's not my day today, so sorry againIf you're talking about changing the icon like the image above, I really doubt that exists an opition for that... :S

No...

Neither Windows Messenger, nor MSN Messenger, nor Windows Live Messenger ever had an option to change the icon displayed in the contact list window or the taskbar button icon.

The script pointed to by MircoWay can though.

Don't worry about it, it's hardly your fault.

I'm thinking maybe the problem might be with the shell as opposed to WLM (in which case, it's I who have wasted your time) as I'm certain it used to happen.
I suppose I just assumed it was an option, not the standard behaviour, the alternative being that it's the standard behaviour and something else is messing things around.

Anyway, thank you.

edit: ok, that's it, I'm blind as well as mad.

Sorry. Thank you.
I'll go find a rock to crawl under somewhere...

edit #2: and, after all that, it's unsuitable because the status icons are only 16x16 and the shell I'm using puts 32x42 icons in the tray.

Sorry about all that, it seems I've wasted everyone's time.
