Windows XP theme not working properly - Printable Version

Windows XP theme not working properly by rix on 07-02-2007 at 05:13 PM
Some while ago after starting my computer Windows XP theme was broken. Then i switched to Classic one, which worked very well till now. Nowhalf of the screen is black, buttons are hard to see and so on. Take a look at the picture to get an overview.
Any ideas how to solve it?
Theme service is switched on. No theme modifier program is installed (WindowBlinds etc...).

I see nothing wrong with that picture. Just plain old classic theme

Not exactly. Windows Xp Theme is select4ed and apply button is pressed. And look at the Start button also. Classic theme has a slightly different button.

try restarting the themes service?

Slap me with a fish if I missed something, but, I think it's your monitor. Cause if you check the first screenshot on another computer, the black box doesn't appear...
Edit: Also, Disturbed are pretty damned good.

Right Click on My Computer and go Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced Tab > Settings ( In Performance ) > Visual Effects.
Are they all unticked..? Just a random guess. And I was following Vista so it could be a little different to yours.
Edit: Oh I never saw all that black shit.. Can you use any other theme..? Try downloading the theme again. It looks like its faulty (as this has happened when I tried to install a theme and half the files were missing)

Dunno, what the real cause was. I went for System restore, after what Windows didn't start at all.
So here i am with clean installation of Windows. No problems... yet.

TReKiE is an advocate of System Restore. I don't know why, it never works and should never be trusted.

Not in XP it doesn't. Look at Vista's Classic theme. Start button's icon is the Vista logo. Same deal here.
