Word doesn't save (Solved) by somelauw on 07-03-2007 at 01:02 PM

I use MS Word 2000(9.0.2812) on WinXP SP2.

Each time I change something in a specific file and then try to save that change. It shows me that an unexpected error occured.
If I make a new file and save it, it works. It's only one specific document.
It's 58 kB and contains object which have been copy-pasted form excel, powerpoint and it contains lots of tables.

What do you suggest? If you need more info, then just ask.

has the file been "read only" protected?

open a new document and past the object in there
maybe msword doesn't support the type of object

No, it hasn't. Neither has it been password protected.

By the way. I used to be able to save it when changes are made. After updating the file a couple of times it suddenly got (maybe)corrupted.

It's an assignment for mathematics and I want to improve it. But that's kinda hard if I can't save changes.

I tried to cut-paste the powerpoint object from the word file to another word file. Then word tried to autosave it and again the error.
Since word autosaves only every 5 minutes, I tried it again.
Then I tried to copy-paste everything to a new document and then saving it, that worked. I could even edit it and save it again.

The problem is solved now. Thanks both for helping.

Thanks toddy, it has been solved now. I already edited my previous post to prevent a double post.

I want to be able to edit it. Not just append to it. It's by the way a large word document. It would take long to make a screenshot from every single page.
