Contacts on Desktop Tooltip by stu on 07-05-2007 at 05:41 PM

When I mouse over some of the contacts on my desktop, the tooltip is displayed underneith some of the other contacts, see picture. This doesnt happen for all of them though, only some. None of my contacts are set to be always on top or anything like that. Its been like this forever, never thought much of it, but its annoying sometimes. It seems that the tooltip only displays ontop of the offline contacts maybe?

Im using:
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (5.1.2600)
Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178
Messenger Plus! Live 4.23.0.276

Well, I just did a clean restart, and they displayed properly. I thought that it might happen when I opena  full screen app that changed my screen resolution, so I opened up Red Alert 2, started the game and then closed it.After I got back to my desktop, the tool tips are displayed underneith the names, like I said above.

So not sure if that happens everytime something changes the resolution, I'd have to restart after everytime to fix the problem first.. If you want me to see if I can get anything else to get these results, I can try though.

All other Windows tool tips appear to be working fine, but when they are displayed over the floating contacts, the contact still appears to be on top, added another screenshot of this.

Edit: Clicking on each contact does seem to fix the problem.. Cant believe I didnt try that before, although annoying to do, may give you some more insight.

Also, tried running another game, NFS:Carbon, it did the same thing.. Afterwards when I clicked on each name again, nothing happened, the tool tips were displayed under the contacts still, and some contacts didnt even display the tool tip at all.. So perhaps clicking on them doesnt actually fix it.. *-)
