Actually Vista can legally be used for a trial for 30 days, and ALSO there is a registry key that can be used LEGALLY to re-arm the 30 day countdown 4 times so you can LEGALLY get a maximum of 120 days trial of Vista.

Where you get Vista from other than a torrent download site I wouldn't know as The Windows ISO Download system (as far as I know) has not been implemented yet.

...So I'm gathering that since it can be used as a trial for a period of time, it makes it shareware.

So (once again as far as I know) you could legally download the .iso from a torrent site and burn and install vista LEGALLY for a trial period ONLY as long as you DO NOT make any attempt at downloading a pre-activated, cracked, keygen, timerstop, activator or anything that bypasses activation via a legally bought serial key.

pretty much, downloading an OS should be legal as long as you don't make any attempt to bypass things like the time restriction

but there is the legal extention of time such as typing "slmgr -rearm" in to a cmd window(with admin privaliges) that only works 3 time, extentding the 30 days to 120, before you have to eather format/reinstall vista or buy the legal copy

I just posted this to counter the locked thread, there was no reason for it to be locked.

Did you mean downloaded the betas? That they had connect and microsoft put up vista RC1 for public download, and they also got shipped out on DVD too.

Or do you mean how do I suppose people get a hold of vista digitally?

I'd suggest torrents, rapidshare type sites, Microsoft's Digital Download Locker (although that is a pay for service and requires you to buy the item, no tiral download available, also only available to US credit cards)

Stop trying to be a smart arse as well when I'm trying to help and/or inform people

Obtaining Vista via any torrent site is illegal. Legit or not. Vista can only be distributed directly through Microsoft otherwise you're breaking copyright laws and the EULA.
