Webcam crashes MSN by Gareth1986 on 08-02-2007 at 11:57 AM

I am running Windows Live Messenger build 8.01.178.00 with the Plus! 4.23.0.276 upgrade.

My system specs are:-
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
ASUS Crosshair Motherboard
Corsair DDR2 2GB RAM
ASUS 8800GTS 640MB
Seagate 80GB IDE HDD

Whenever a contact wishes to show me their webcam, as soon as i click accept, MSN shutsdown with "Windows Live Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I have been told to check my webcam settings by going through Tools>Webcam settings. However it also crashes MSN. I do not even have a webcam installed anyway.

I have undertaken troubleshooting from Microsoft support, however they have now washed their hands of me and wish for me to pay. I updated DirectX, checked that i have the latest updates for MSN and Microsoft Windows. Im not behind a router or anything like that. I have a 1024MB Wireless internet connection run through a ZoneAlarm 07 Suite which i have enabled MSN to pass through. I even authorised the file .dll to run when i first clicked accept to view a webcam.

Why isnt it letting me view other peoples webcams? This is very frustrating and it appears that im the only person in the world with this problem. As google.yahoo and other tech forums posses no information for me to fix it.

Do i abandon my msn account and say hello to yahoo?

Yes, that is the best option, if no results from this, try troubleshooting.
