I'm running Ubuntu on my computer and I have a computer with a shared folder running windows I want access to the windows shared folder but the don't seem to interact very well

i'm running mcafee on the windows comp i want to access will i need to reconfigure anything?
because the windows host seems invisible to linux but it works when i boot into windows

they won't even ping each other anymore
they did once

now I can see the windows pc in the network but it just says can't display files or something

(both were separate)

the linux box will see the xp box in the places network but neither computer will ping each other
