[Release] Stikkit Live! by rob_botch on 08-24-2007 at 11:14 AM

This script is an early release to allow interaction with stikkit from within Windows Live Messenger. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Features:

  • Create stikkits from interface window
  • Create stikkits using the "/stikk" command
  • View upcoming calendar events
  • View ToDos with status (done or not done)
  • View a full directory of your "peeps" (contacts)

Bugs / Still to do
  • Implement altering of To Do status. At the moment, I believe there is a bug in the API preventing this

I don't have Stikkit, didn't find a download link on the site either...signed up but nothin seems to be happening....so in awaits of that..

I installed your script. And even tho i don't have Stikkit installed it opens up the screens...each give two "Stikkit Live! error: 0" notifications with no description. I anything it should prompt me that i don't have Stikkit installed and/or that i should enter my API key I (if those popups ment to say that they failed).

Opening the New Stikkit screen should not be possible without having set a key in the preferences at all....prompt to insert key and (if possible) open up that tab in "Open Stikkit Live!" instead would be better. As it is now it gives the ipression i can make a new stikket...but when i try i get Error, check API Key.

I have to admit: that's a very nice looking and still easy-to-use script window you have there! I haven't tested the functions of it because I was too lazy to get myself a Stikkit account, but looking at the graphical aspect, you've done a very nice job! :)

Thank you for your feedback.

@ Sunshine: Thank you for pointing this out. As I had been using it from the start, I hadn't experienced this problem. This has now been sorted, and a new user should only see one error message when signing in / initialising the script, and another when opening the main window. Thanks also for the suggestion RE: opening preferences window if no API key is set. This has been implemented. The new version is downloadable in the first post.
With regard to your first point, there is nothing to download to use stikkit online. When you visit stikkit.com, there should be a row of buttons at the top. The far right one of these is used to compose a new stikkit.

If anyone who uses stikkit has actually used my script, it would be great to hear from you!

Robert

I love the interface, have never used stikkit however so can't comment on functionality.

If the signing up on the site would actually work....

Not trying to be harsh or anything, but whats the point of using this if you can't set the stikkits text?

When you create a new one, all you're doing is making a blank stikkit with the title as whatever you entered in the textarea.

Anyway, for those of you that want your API Key, go to http://www.stikkit.com/stikkits, click the button that looks like this [Image: icon-tl-feed.gif] and then get your API Key from the the URL :P

RE: [Release] Stikkit Live! by rob_botch on 08-25-2007 at 07:52 AM

I think I understand your point. Is it that whatever you enter in the entry box only appears in the title of the stikkit, not the body? Stikkit itself works that whatever the first line of the stikkit is becomes the title. Therefore, if you enter a stikkit on two lines (or more) anything after the first line is only in the body.

Regarding the "point" of this, it is mainly to compose stikkits rather than a fully-fledged browser. My thinking behind this (please correct me if I'm wrong) was that whilst people would happily visit the stikkit website to look through their notes, it would be convenient to be able to write stikkits quickly and easily, particularly from the same window as WLM conversations. It allows making of notes as they occur to the user.

I hope this answers your questions

Robert
