Help!! 
When i sign into windows live messenger (either the latest 8.1 or 8.5) my contact list is screwed.
First it says there are 7 people offline, then 3 online, 2 mobile and 166 offline. However i know for a fact there are way more people online!! What the hell is going on?! And then I get disconnected!!

i think WLM is just getting the statuses of your contacts from the server
but the disconnection is probably (possibly) because of.... your internet (or programs, add-ins, ....slowness)?

It's no longer disconnecting (my internet's fine)
But the contacts thing takes FOREVER, it can't be that bad, my laptop account is fine, but my main one is screwed
