Transmitting "what u hear" in Vista by ZrednaZ on 09-20-2007 at 01:29 PM

In WinXP, I was able to transmit what I was currently listening to on my computer using Messenger's voice clip button along with the WAV/MP3 recording device selected in Windows Mixer.

Now that I have Vista, I'm no longer able to do this since I cannot select anything but Mic as my recording input in the Windows mixer. This has been annoying me ever since the Vista upgrade. Suggestions?

I have Realtek ALC650 and got this fixed (the Recording input shows Stereo mix, Line in, etc) after I installed the drviers from their website.

My Creative SB X-Fi comes with the 'What U Hear' setting when i run the Audio tuning wizard.

What is your audio card?

well it's a lenovo T61 laptop, some sort of Soundmax audio card I guess. The intended official drivers are already installed, but maybe I'll try experimenting with others.
