Changing your Passport E-mail Address (What happens to your Contacts?) by artfuldodga on 09-20-2007 at 01:52 PM

Just a quick question, does changing your passport email address still erase all your contacts?
or has Microsoft recently updated this 'Option'.

The last time I changed my email, I updated it in my passport and I lost all my contacts. I did however save my contact List to file but upon
adding them back, half of my contacts did not even know it was me adding them pp.gif I then had to email every one of them and tell them
what was up.

Just wondering if Microsoft has made this any easier yet.

I don't know.
I do know this: I would never bother with changing my passport e-mail address even if I couldn't access the inbox anymore. If your contacts want your real, working e-mail address, they can always ask for it... Just a thought!

Personally I have my passport address associated with a hotmail account that I don't use for anything but Messenger. And guess what? My contacts hardly ever use it for anything but chain letters anyway.

ah good ole chain mails glad I don't get any anymore :)

No, as a suggestion to Microsoft in connect I asked if they could expand the contact list exporter/importer so we could do groups and selections, this got rejected as most stuff does :(
