auto-re-setup !!! by kryp2nyt on 09-23-2007 at 07:29 AM

Hi all,

we are all aware of how Microsoft screwed us and forced us to upgrade to its stupid live service by upgrading from MSN 7.5.

Anyways, the problem is, i used the trick mentioned here 'compatibility mode', and it worked perfectly! but, everytime i have to run 7.5, i get the setup window that says it repairs MSN 7.5, then it starts the program.

Is there a way to prevent this thing??

Um use another method of avoiding the mandatory upgrade?

what do you mean?

Is there another way besides the compatibility check?

Go back to Windows ME or Win98 and use MSN Messenger 7.0...or on XP use Windows Messenger or another IM client....

or...prepare (make sure you name all your emoticons to prevent you having to restore them later, back up contactlist, export Plus! custom sounds to a soundpack etc. to be fully safe) and accept the fact that you can't escape upgrading and upgrade to Windows Live Messenger already (you will have to eventually anyways).

This might sound harsh but a workaround is still a workaround an nothin more than a temporary solution (and you are putting your computer at risk whilst doing so).

That doesn't actually answer my question.

Is there any other way to stop this repair thing from popping up?

Ans NO, am NOT willing to upgrade to WLM, it sucks as hell, and jogs up my system's memory for many of the features i DO NOT use!
