If he has an antivirus, he should run it. If it's up to date, it will remove the virus.

I'm having the same issue, but my AV and other programs didn't detect it. I tried that link above but found nothing, any ideas?

Seems like a perfect time to post this. Please sticky it if possible as it is the third time I have had to post it.

Viruses are always on the loose! Weather its from files you downloaded from a site or your friends sent it to you via messenger, it's a big problem.

There are a few things you can do such as always confirm that your contact sent it to you and it wasn't an automated message. Also make sure you have a good anti-virus that's always updated.

Here are some free anti-viruses that you can download (in no particular order).
Please note you should only have one resident anti-virus program

Or try either of these free online scanners
All are Free.

Remember the best virus defence is common sense and always check with your contact!

Did you try the online virus scans?
MS said they were going to put a scanning activity in the activity list, what happened to it?

Tell them to do this:

Download this: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe
Open it up.

Put in the box: C:\WINDOWS\system32\SVSH0ST.EXE
And press the red cross. Close the box.

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder

That should do it. If it doesn't, they need to run anti-spyware or anti-virus.
