RE: MSN Contacts by Mans on 10-02-2007 at 01:19 PM

Guys:
I need a solution to this problem. I deleted and blocked a contact from msn live messenger version 8.1 that is on windows vista. The contact is now added back on and unblocked obviously. All is good on his end, he accepted my add contact request and he can see me and contact me as usual. Although at my end, he's on my list but I always see him as offline...even when he's online. In our convo window, up top it says '......is not on your contact list. then the link says 'add this person to ya contact list'. I've cliked on it and nothing! Nothing happens.
So I need some ideas as to why it's not working and how I can fix it.
Cheers, Mans :o)

Try deleting Contacts cache.

My Computer. Tools > Folder Options > View tab > Show hidden files and folders

My Computer > Your hard drive (usually C:\) > Documents and Settings > [Your user] > Contacts > Delete the folder with your email address. Restart WLM.

Ahhh I'm on vista so the hard drive settings are bit different so I coudnt really follow you, Chris.
Hmmm are you able to simplify a bit more? LOL.

Ok, sorry. I'll try.

In My Computer, go to Tools (Toolbar at the top) > Folder Options

View tab > Show hidden files and folders. Click OK.

Then.. if it were me.. I would navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Contacts

Note: Filtered out the email addresses for privacy.

In that folder, there will be another folder named after your email address.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Contacts\youremail@hotmail.com

Delete that folder. Restart Windows Live Messenger.
